Who the HECK is wearing ties?

Silk Ties, Made in Canada, H. Halpern Esq. Neckwear

Who is wearing a tie these days? A strange question for us to ask when our family has been selling ties for close to 100 years! But in this post-Covid, work-from-home, casual world it's a question many are asking.

Will ties ever be a staple in every man's wardrobe as they once were? My answer: Evolution is the key. Boring workplace neckwear as part of a uniform will never find it's way back. Just as powdered wigs and knickers have fallen by the wayside, the need for a tie has evolved. Fashion has taken a left turn and made this piece of silk a whimsical expression of personality.

At H. Halpern Esq. we have always believed there is no place for boring neckwear. If you are wearing a tie it should be fabulous! Especially in our current casual world, a tie should be seen as an opportunity! Designers are showing them again on the run, as Jessica Salter says in her article 'Luxury Brands Are Betting on Ties (Again). Here’s Why Neckwear Means Money.' in the Wall Street Journal. Luxury houses like Prada and Emporio Armani are appealing to 'younger guys in creative industries' who are 'sporting the accessories expressively rather than obediently.'

Each new group strives to break free of what their parents did before them. The work-from-home uniform of sweatpants and tshirts is not the fashion of the next generation. Wearing a tie has become a symbol of rebellion and counter-culture.

So...who is wearing ties? The cool kids. That's who. Don't you want to join in the fun?
